Ole & Steen Opens First US Location (NYC)

Today, Ole & Steen opened its 100th store. The New York location will be the first store in the United States.

The bakery offers modern takes on traditional Danish sweets, cakes, pastries and savory dishes in a friendly environment.

Ole & Steen will be open throughout the day. Offerings include coffee, salads, soups and open-faced sandwiches, in addition to its signature breads, pastries and cake

Located at 873 Broadway in a landmarked building originally constructed in 1900, Ole & Steen’s flagship NYC location is outfitted in sleek Danish style, with Jura grey stone countertops, blackened brass accents, modern light fixtures and seating for up to 80 guests.

Ole & Steen will be open Monday through Friday from 6:30am-10pm and weekends from 7:30am-10pm.

History of Ole & Steen

Ole & Steen is a pioneer in the resurgence of artisanal and handcrafted baking practices. It was founded in 1991 in Denmark by bakers Ole Kristoffersen and Steen Skallebaek. Originally, it was called Lagkagehuset or “layer cake house” .

Today, there are 100 restaurants worldwide. The majority of these stores are located in Denmark and the United Kingdom.
