Call it an aphrodisiac. Call it a sex enhancer. You can call it what you may, but you have probably heard rumors of certain foods working to increase sex drive or performance. We wanted to find out if there was any truth to the story that certain foods can make you horny.

Looking to advice of nutritionists, doctors and others, we found some good old science between the foods you eat and your sex drive. Whether you are asking for a “friend” or want to know for yourself, we hope a nice meal with the right foods can get your “friend” ready to perform in no time. We found that the following foods had a rationale for improving the libido:

Almonds

Almonds are a food that are a very old food fertility symbol. They tend to be seen as healthy snack that is rich in vitamin E. Many believe vitamin E to be one of the leading antioxidants for sexual health. Almonds are also very high in other vitamins, minerals, protein, fiber and fats.

Arugula

Arugula first showed up on the scene in the early first century. Dark leafy greens like arugula are known to block harmful environmental contaminants. These harmful contaminants can negatively effect your libido.

Ashwagandha

Ashwagandha was first mentioned in one of the oldest texts on sexuality, the Kama Sutra. The plant of the Ashwagandha helps reduce stress levels and blood pressure. Blood pressure is one of the leading causes of impotence.

Honey

Honey can work in a few ways to help our your libido. One property is that is contains nitric oxide. This is released during arousal. It also contains boron to help regulate hormones. The symbol goes back centuries as a symbol of procreation and fertility.

Many have thought that maca is a really effect aphrodisiac. WebMD looked into it and think some of the claims may be exaggerated. That said, some studies have shown that maca slightly improved sexual desire. There is also some evidence that maca may increase sperm count and therefore fertility in men.

In Chinese medicine, oats have been used for a long time to treat low libido. There have actually been studies that have shown oats to significantly increase levels of testosterone, so head towards a bowl of oats in the morning, men!

Olive Oil

Olive Oil is packed with antioxidants and monosaturated and polysaturated fats. To speak of the greeks again, that often that that olive oil made men more virile. The healthy fats found are good for your heart, hormone function and blood flow.
